White Haven- A fishing settlement
in the township of Wilmot, county of Guysborough. This was originally
intended to be the terminus of the intercolonial railway, surveys with
that object in mind having been made 20 years ago. The harbor is one
of the finest on the coast, being both spacious and free from ice during
the winter. White head at it's entrance, is the first land on the Nova
Scotia coast seen by vessels from Europe. Distant from New Glasgow,
a station of the Nova Scotia railway, 80 miles, from Guysborough 30
miles, and from Halifax 105 miles. Mail bi-weekly. Population about
