SPEARS, Courtly - 78 of Mount William, Pictou County, died Tuesday in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Whitehead, Guysborough County, he was the son of the late George and Frances (Ryter) Spears. He was a coal miner for many years and also worked for Tide Water Construction Company. He is survived by his wife the former Elizabeth MacLeod; two daughters, Esther and Carlene; three sons, Richard, Robert, John; and from a previous marriage one son Donald; one daughter Julia. A sister Clara, Timmons, Ont; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by an infant son, George Courtly; five brothers; two sisters. The body has been cremated. A graveside commital service will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Holy Name Cemetery, Westville, with Father Bedford Doucette officiating. No flowers by request. Services are under the direction of Eagles Funeral Home, Westville.
