SNOW, Pearl Fordie "Michael" 83, of Halifax, passed away February 1, 2001, at the V.G. Site, QEII. Born in Canso, he was the son of the late Harry and Angeline (Pellerine) Snow. He moved his family to Halifax from Canso in 1955, and worked at the National Sea Products for many years. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the Merchant Marine; he was the final surviving of pioneering open-heart surgery, done in 1965. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Vimy Branch No. 27, where he held various offices. An avid and talented dart player on many different legion teams where he was part of a winning legion provincial team. He enjoyed woodworking and puttering in his shed. A kind and gentle man who was never known to say a mean word to anyone. All, who knew him, loved this very special man and he will be missed very, very much. He was a loving father to sons, Allen (Carol), Calgary; Harry, Fort Saskatchewan; daughters Pearl (Doug) Hogan, Newport Michigan; Theresa, Halifax; Blanche (Gordon) Armsworthy, Dartmouth; Barbara (Paul) Stonier, Stewiacke; Tammie (David) McParland, North Bay, Ontario; loving grandfather to Jeffery, Michael, Erin, Carrie, Blair, Jonathon, Benjamin, Sarah, Samantha, Lauren, Kathleen, Maura, Quinlan, and Garrett; great-grandfather to Britany, Kandus, Kory, Falon, Alexander and Kiara; brothers Fred (Marion), Willimatic, Conn.; Doug (Gertie), Canso; sisters Esther Carter, Rita (Bill) Moore, Millie(Jim) Cummings, all of Halifax: Jennie George, Canso June (Gord) Baker, North Port, Florida. He was predeceased by his wife Rita May Hall; daughters Martha and Ann, grandson Kent; brothers Henry, Leno, and Ellsworth; Sister Ida. Visitation will be held today 7-9pm, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the J Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax. Legion service will be held 7p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Funeral service will be held 10 am Monday, in St Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Father Ronald Cairns officiating, burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Reception in the R.C.L. Vimy Branch, Cogswell St., Halifax. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice. |
