CHANDLER, Raymond Duncan - 89, Guysborough, died June 12, 1997, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Campbellton, N.B., he was a son of the late George and Margaret (Parker) Chandler. He served during the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Engineers. He was employed at the Halifax Dockyards as a pipefitter for 25 years. He was an avid sportsman and athlete. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are sons, Ronald, New Harbour; Perry, Mabou; daughters, Hilda (Mrs. Weldon Colby), Lower Sackville; Evelyn Prendergast, London, Ont.; Rae (Mrs. Raymond Pearl), Mississauga, Ont.; Linda Purnell, Langley, B.C.; Virginia Chandler, Toronto; Caroline Chandler, Halifax; Christina (Mrs. Raymond Frazier), Larrys River, Guysborough Co.; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Gertrude Mae Brewer; a brother and sister. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Sunday, both in New Harbour United Baptist Church, Rev. Mark Kingsbury officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, New Harbour. Donations to New Harbour Cemetery fund or any charity. Arrangements entrusted to G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, Country Harbour. |
