BELLEFONTAINE, Placid D. - 68, 15 Levis St., Spryfield, died December 25, 1993, at home. Born in Port Felix, Guysborough County, he was a son of Lucie (Doiron) Casey, Port Felix and the late Cletus Joseph Bellefontaine. He was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church. He served during the Second World War with the Merchant Navy. He worked for H.M.C. Dockyard, where he was a stationary engineer first class before his retirement. He spent much of his leisure time at his summer home on Janvrin's Island in Cape Breton. He is survived by his wife, the former Mabel Dorey; five daughters, Nancy (Mrs. Stephen Barry), Faye (Mrs. Terry MacFarlane), both of Dartmouth; Betty (Mrs. Denis Walsh), Harrietsfield; Heather (Mrs. Greg Flemming), Regina, Sask; Barbara (Mrs. Ralph Juteau), Spryfield; two sons, Cletus, Rockingham; David, at home; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Donald, Mount Uniacke; Duncan, Port Felix; sister, Lorraine (Mrs. John Verville), Vancouver; two half-brothers, Patrick, Fairview; Laurie, Port Felix; half-sister, Ina, Havre Boucher; a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step-father, Daniel Casey; two brothers, Joseph, Peter; half-brother, Arthur. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and Tuesday in J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Rev Eric Theriault officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. |
