MUNROE, Leona Sophia Letitia - 106, Whitehead, Guysborough Co., died Tuesday, April 23, 2002, in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Born June 14, 1895, in Yankee Harbour, Guysborough Co., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophia (Hendsbee) Peitzsch and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of Grace United Church, Whitehead. Leona and her family resided in Yankee Harbour, before moving to Whitehead in September 1947. She was an avid lover of music and always looked forward to seeing her many friends and relatives at her birthday parties. Leona also enjoyed cooking, baking and quilting. She is survived by sons, Calvin and Morley, both of Whitehead; Eric, Colin and Howard, all of Halifax; Cyril, Mississauga, Ont.; daughters, Margaret Lohnes and Norma (Mrs. George Clarke), both of Halifax; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert; sons, Lawrence, Murdock and Edward; brothers, George, Ed, Roland, Howard, Billy, Spergen, Horace, Joseph, Stanley and Clayton. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday, funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, both in Grace United Church, Whitehead, Rev. Leonard Oracheski officiating. Burial in Grace United Cemetery, Whitehead. Family flowers only please by request. Memorial donations may be made to the Grace United Church or Guysborough Memorial Hospital.
