NEW GLASGOW - Benjamin (Ben) Gerrior, 92, Glenhaven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Lourdes, died Thursday in New Glasgow. Born in Larry's River, he was a son of the late Peter and Telena (Avery) Gerrior. He was a former employee of Standard Clay Ltd. and Maritime Steel. He was a resident of Lourdes for 50 years and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by five daughters, Telena (Mrs. Frank Frost) and Theresa (Mrs. Butch Hughes), both of Lourdes; Kathleen (Mrs. Fred MacLeod), Sydney; Jean (Mrs. Charles Gibson),Toronto; Mary, Stellarton; eight sons, Robert, Paul and Donald, all of Stellarton; Cyril, New Glasgow; Joseph, John,Raymond and Lester, all of Toronto; a half-sister, Mrs. Cecelia Pitts, Halifax; 39 grandchildren; 25 great - grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife the former Mary Alice Pitts; five sons; a daughter; several sisters and brothers. The body is in H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. Spring burial will be in the parish cemetery.

STELLARTON - The death of Benjamin (Ben) Gerrior, 92, of Glen Haven Manor, formerly of Lourdes, occurred this morning (Thursday) at the manor. Born in Larry's River, Guysborough County, he was the son of the late Peter and Telena (Avery) Gerrior. He was a resident of Lourdes for 50 years and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. He was a former employee of Standard Clay and Maritime Steel. Surviving are five daughters: Telena (Mrs. Frank Frost), Lourdes; Kathleen (Mrs. Fred MacLeod), Sydney; Jean (Mrs. Charles Gibson), Toronto; Mary, Stellarton; Theresa (Mrs. Butch Hughes), Lourdes; eight sons: Robert, Paul, Donald, all of Stellarton; Cyril, New Glasgow; Joseph, John, Raymond and Lester all of Toronto; 39 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a half-sister, Mrs. Cecilia Pitts, Halifax. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary Alice Pitts, five sons, one daughter and! several sisters and brothers. The remains will rest at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton after 7 p.m. this evening (Thursday). Funeral mass will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.

STELLARTON - The largely attended funeral service for Ben Gerrior was held Saturday, Jan. 31 in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Rev. Joe Gillis officiated, assisted by Rev. Sandy McNeil. They brought words of comfort to family and friends. Organist Mary MacDougall accompanied the choir when they sang "This Day God Give Me" and "The Lord Is My Shepherd". Daughter Teresa Hughes did the readings. Pallbearers were grandsons Dennis Frost, Donald Frost, Ronnie Hughes, Allen MacLeod, great-grandson Sandy MacDonald and friend Richie Keay. Interment will be in Lourdes Cemetery in the spring.
