RICHARD (Clay), Marjorie Winnifred - 73, Charlos Cove, Guysborough Co., died October 28, 1996, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 1, 1923, in Leicester, England, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Elsie (Cross) Clay. Prior to immigrating to Canada as a war bride, she was a member of the British Royal Army during the Second World War. After immigrating to Canada, she settled in the place she loved best, Charlos Cove. Marjorie was an active community member. She was secretary/treasurer of Torbay Canning Company; secretary/treasurer of Larrys River Credit Union and president for several terms. Marjorie was also active in the Home and School Association and a founding member of the ladies auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 117, Torbay. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Wallace J. Richard, Charlos Cove; son, Rodney and wife Hilda; grandchildren, Nicole and Monique, Hammonds Plains; son, Blair and wife Kathleen; grandchildren, Ian and Lise, Dartmouth; daughter, Maureen, Newcastle, Australia; son-in-law, Bill MacLean; grandson, Derek; brothers, Raymond and A.J., Leicester, England; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Albert. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, October 30, funeral 2 p.m. Thursday, October 31, both in St. Joseph's Church, Charlos Cove. Cremation to follow. Private family burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso, St. Joseph's Church, Charlos Cove, or a charity of one's choice. | |
