LEONARD JOSEPH RICHARD

RICHARD, Leonard Joseph - 71, Purcells Cove Road, Halifax, died November 20, 1997, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, VG Site. Born in Charlos Cove, Guysborough Co., he was a son of the late Frederick and Selena (Richard) Richard. He served with the merchant marine during the Second World War and was employed with the Canadian Coast Guard. He was a member of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church; Royal Canadian Legion, Fairview Branch, and the Purcells Cove Club. Surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Maurice; sisters, Agnes Shay, Mary Wylie. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax. Memorial service 10 a.m. Monday in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Rev. John Williams officiating. Private family committal to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or St. Lawrence Parish Family Centre.
