MUNROE, Gerald Eston - 72, Prospect Bay, passed away January 29, 1997, in the QEII Health Sciences centre, VG Site. Born in Whitehead, Guysborough Co., he was a son of Coleman Munroe and the late Elizabeth (Snow) Munroe. He served in the Armed Forces during the Second World War and worked with B.A. Jackson's, as an assistant manager for 11 years. He was a member of White Lake Royal Canadian Legion 153, for 38 years, where he also worked as a bartender and janitor for 15 years. He resided at Prospect Bay for 40 years, where he was loved and respected by everyone who knew him, from young to old. Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth Mary Casey; daughter, Geraldine Stella Creelman, Halifax; son, Michael Howard Munroe, Prospect Bay. He is also survived by his father, Coleman Munroe, whom resides in Guysborough; and grandchildren, Janice, Carrie-Ann, Tammy; great grandchild, Christopher. He was predeceased by sister, Claressa (at the age of 8); son, Donnie in infancy; his mother, Elizabeth Stella (Snow). Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Shad Bay. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
