MYERS-PITTS, Ruth Elaine "Dolly" - 89, Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough and formerly of Boylston and Cole Harbour, Guysborough Co., died peacefully Monday, July 14, 2003, in the home. Born in Cole Harbour, Guysborough Co., February 22, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Edna Munroe-Myers. Ruth, or Dolly as she was fondly known, was predeceased by her first husband, Spurgeon Myers; second husband, Fordie Pitts; sister, Dorothy; brother, Lloyd. Dolly lived her early years in Cole Harbour. After a double cataract operation in New York in the mid forties, she lived with a cousin there for five years during which time she was a caregiver to their young twins. Upon her return to Cole Harbour, she married her first husband, Spurgeon Myers (of Cole Harbour), and later Fordie Pitts (of Hingham, Mass.). She is survived by brother, Don Myers, Halifax; sisters, Jean Sinclair, Halifax; Margaret Collins, Ottawa; several stepchildren, nieces and nephews. She was an active member of Boylston United Baptist Church and supporter of the Missionary and Atlantic Baptist College programs and many charities Visitation will be 1-2:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, funeral service to follow at 2:30 p.m. in Boylston United Baptist Church, Rev. Freda MacDonald officiating. Burial in Cole Harbour United Baptist Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to: Jean P. Sinclair, 200 Spinnaker Dr., Halifax, NS B3N 3C6.
