RODERICK MAURICE MUNROE

MUNROE, Roderick Maurice - 64, died peacefully in Saint John Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, July 17, 2003. He was born in Whitehead, N.S. He was a son of the late Clyde and Della Munroe. At an early age he went to the United States, where he joined the American Air Force in 1963 serving at bases throughout that country. He also spent a year in Vietnam and another in Portugal. He retired in 1983 and worked at his trade as a plumber at Penn State University, State College, Pa. He retired to Saint John and his beloved Nova Scotia in 1991. Roddy loved life, people, music and always had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humour. He enjoyed building model fishing boats, using photographs and memories from his youth. He loved the writings of St. Paul and often quoted them. He will be sadly missed by sisters, Pauline Barteaux, Eve MacKenzie, Isabel Wile and brother-in-law, Earl, Ruby Orr and brother-in-law Gib; brothers, Ernie and sister-in-law Paulette, all of Dartmouth; brother, Lee, Winnipeg. He is also survived by his loving friend and devoted companion, Beverley Wilson, Saint John, who was with him until the end; also long-time friends, Bruce and Odette Clifford, Saint John; three children, Adele Nall and husband Stephen, Prairie Village, Kan.; son, Matthew, Pennsylvania.; Aaron, Kansas; grandchildren, Stephen Nall Jr. and Graydon Nall. He was predeceased by sisters, Jennie MacLaurin and Ruth Wheeler. Cremation has taken place. Private family service at a later date. "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."
