SARAH CELESTE "SADIE" AVERY

AVERY, Sarah Celeste "Sadie" - 84, Welsford Street, Pictou, died Sunday, November 2, 2003, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Larry's River, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Florence (Pettipas) Avery. Sadie had been a resident of Pictou for 55 years. She loved her family, children, pilgrimages to Sainte Anne de Beaupre and the Montreal Canadiens. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Hartson, Pictou; sons, Willard (Sharon), Division Road, Les (Debbie), Pictou; Norbert, Montreal, and Neil, Vancouver; grandchildren, Joseph Hartson, Denise Avery, Dawn Avery, Darryl Avery; great- grandchildren, Nicolas, Alec, and Erica Hartson; sisters, Elsie Pellerine and Theresa Avery, Larry's River; Rita Richard, Montreal; half-sister, Verenia McGowen, New Mexico; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Angus; granddaughter, Cindy Harston. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today, 3:30-4:30 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, Rev. Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Stella Maris Parish.
