HEALY, Mary Christena "Chris" - 85, passed away peacefully December
3, 2003, at her home in Bedford surrounded by her loving children. Chris
was born in Charlos Cove, Guysborough Co., the eldest daughter of the
late William A. and Alice (Richard) Richard. She was the last surviving
member of her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased
by her sister, Annie (Elden) Pettipas and her brother William (Louise)
Richard. She was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband, William,
who predeceased her in November 1999. She is survived by her daughters,
Beverley, Dartmouth; Alice (Barry) Astles, Beaver Bank; Carol Ann (Ronnie)
Mercier, Lower Sackville; Judie and Donna, Bedford; sons, Edward (Nancy),
Lower Sackville; Richard (Samantha), Beaver Bank. Nan will be greatly
missed by her grandchildren, Danielle (Ansar), Halifax; Christopher,
Banff, Alta.; Sean and Mark, Beaver Bank; Kelly, Dartmouth; Melissa,
Calgary; Suellen, Lower Sackville; Mathew, Bedford; her only great-grandchild,
Benjamin, Dartmouth; one niece and three nephews. Chris' life revolved
around her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a quiet, gentle
and loving woman who loved life, and lived it to the fullest. In her
early years, she was very active in the parish life of St. Ignatius
Church and remained a faithful member. She was a woman of great faith,
a prayerful woman who was faithful to her religious responsibility.
She accepted with wonderful courage and peace the suffering and uncertainty
of her illness. She will be deeply missed and certainly remembered with
great affection in the hearts, minds and prayers of family and friends.
Christena has forever influenced and left her mark on those who knew
her. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, Lower
Sackville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday in St.
Ignatius Church, Bedford, Father Joseph MacKinnon officiating. Immediately
following the funeral mass, Christena will be laid to rest next to her
husband in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Following the burial the family
requests that you join them at a reception at 61 Raymond Dr., Lower
Sackville. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to Canadian Cancer Society or Cobequid Community Health Centre.
