DeYOUNG, Marie - 69, 454 Vale Rd., New Glasgow, died suddenly May 7, 2000, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Charles Cove, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late Frances Phillip and Mary Agnes (Pellerine) Mannette. She had been employed at the old Aberdeen Hospital and retired from the kitchen staff at Sam's Restaurant. She was a member of St. Gregory's Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. She enjoyed knitting, baking, camping, dancing and antique cars. Most important in her life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are daughters, Donna (Vincent) MacDonald, New Glasgow; Debbie (John) O'Laney, River John; Darlene DeYoung, Cathy (Dale) MacPhail, New Glasgow; sons, Walter (Marcella), Lawrence, William "Willie" (Sandra), New Glasgow; Wayne (Linda), Merigomish; sisters, Elvita Richard, Halifax; Hilda (Joe) Cashin, Ontario; Ethel (Basil) Richard, Charles Cove; Yvonne (Bert) Myatt, Antigonish; brother, Simon (Hattie) Mannette, Charles Cove; 24 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick "Pat"; son, Bert; sister, Margaret Richard; brother, Frances in infancy. Visitation will be held at her late residence, 454 Vale Rd., New Glasgow from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Gregory's Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Bernard MacAdam officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, New Glasgow. Donations may be made in her memory to the We Care Society or The Children's Wish Foundation. Arrangements are entrusted to P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. |
