MANNETTE, Simon Joseph - 81, Greenwould Manor, Antigonish, formerly
of Charlos Cove, Guysborough Co., died Saturday, October 11, 2003, in
St. Martha's Regional Hospital. Born in Charlos Cove, he was a son of
the late Frank and Mary (Pellerine) Mannette.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Charlos Cove.
In his earlier years, Simon was a lobster fisherman. He then worked
as a carpenter in Halifax with both Anthony Construction and Lindsay's
Construction until his retirement in 1982. Simon loved to fish and hunt
and took great pleasure in woodworking. He enjoyed playing cards, bingo
and all community activities. He also did boat building for local people
in the community. He is survived by his wife, the former Hattie Bouchie
DeCoste; sons, Raymond (Shirley), Lower Sackville; Francis (Patricia),
Halifax; daughters, Margaret (Mrs. Eric DeWolfe), Bernice (Mrs. Bill
Boudreau), both of Halifax; stepson, Charlie DeCoste, Linwood; stepdaughters,
Margaret (Mrs. Jackie Jordan), Antigonish; Mary (Mrs. Russell Pettipas),
Havre Boucher; sisters, Hilda (Mrs. Joseph Cashin), Colburg, Ont.; Elizabeth
Richard, Halifax; Ethel Richard, Charlos Cove; Yvonne Myatt, Antigonish;
grandchildren, Gary, Mike, Dale, Steven, Jennifer, Michelle, Scott,
Trevor, Corey, Jeffery, Travis, Shawna, Evan, Quentin, Haley, Joshua,
Jenna; great-grandchildren, Allyson, Connor, Matthew, Maria and Alexandrea;
several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, the
former Catherine Pettipas; brother, Francis in infancy; sisters, Margaret
Richard and Marie DeYoung. Visitation will
be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, with funeral mass to be held Tuesday, October
14, at 10 a.m., both in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Charlos
Cove, Father Will MacPherson officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Cemetery Fund. Funeral
arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of G. W.
