MRS.
JOHN MURPHY
LARRY'S RIVER,
Jan 17 - Larry's River lost one of it's most beloved and esteemed citizens
recently in the passing of Mrs. John Murphy, at the age of forty-two,
after a long and lingering illness. News of her death was learned with
deep regret by relatives and a wide circle of friends.
In the passing of Mrs. Murphy this community has lost a fine companion
and friend, and the family a beloved wife and mother. The many messages
of condolence, flowers and mass cards received from friends, attested
to the esteem in which the deceased was held.
While her first concern was to be a good home-maker, she always took
a leading part in the social activities of the community. A former school
teacher, singer and pianist, she was especially popular with the school
children and always led in training them for the many school functions
in which they took part. In church affairs, she was active and had been
choir leader and organist here from 1929 until a year ago when ill health
forced her to resign. From 1921 -27 she was a student at O.L.A. convent
at Arichat.
Left to mourn their loss, besides her husband, are two children, Douglas
and Herman; two sisters, Mrs. Allan Pellerin
at home, and Christina of Cambridge, Mass.; one brother Howard,
and her father, James Pellerin, both of this place. Her mother, the
former Lillian Patton, Merigomish, predeceased her thirty years ago.
The largely attended funeral services were held from her home Monday
in time for 9:30 a.m. Mass at St. Peter's Church, with interment in
St. Peter's Cemetery. Those who acted as pallbearers were: Arsen Delorey,
Alphonso Pellerin, Eliott Pellerin, Russell Pellerin, Allan Pellerin
and Frank Avery. The Port Felix choir sang the Requiem High Mass which
was celebrated by Rev. P.A. LeBlanc, P.P., of that place, assisted by
her own parish priest, Rev. C.J. Forest.
