RICHARD, Raymond Joseph (S) - 78, Charlos Cove, Guysborough County, died March 14, 1993, in Dartmouth. Born in Charlos Cove, he was a son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Richard) Richard. He was retired from the Canadian Coast Guard, having served on the Provo Wallis. He served active duty during the Second World War in the North Atlantic mine sweeping operations. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 117, Charlos Cove, serving on the executive committee. He was a member of the board of directors of Larry's River Credit Union. He was warden of St. Joseph's Parish, Charlos Cove and an active member of the community. He is survived by his wife, the former Charlotte Richard; two sons, Brian, Larry's River; Neil, Dartmouth; daughter, Linda (Mrs. Clarence Gillis), Dartmouth; four brothers, Vessie, Dartmouth; David, Martin, both of London, Ont.; Gerald, Larry's River; sister, Aggie, London, Ont.; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Eric; two sisters, Helen, Hattie. The body is in St. Joseph's Church, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, where funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Jim Atwood officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations may be made to Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia or St. Joseph's Cemetery Fund.
