RICHARD, Vessie Sylvester - 80, Northwood Centre, Halifax, formerly of Charlos Cove, Guysborough Co., died December 2, 1996, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Infirmary Site. Born at Charlos Cove, he was a son of the late Samuel Oliver and Elizabeth (Richard) Richard. He was employed as a seaman with the Bedford Institute of Oceanography, having sailed on CGS Acadia and the Hudson for 35 years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Larrys River, and St. Vincent de Paul Church, Cole Harbour. Surviving are son, Cedric, Dartmouth; brothers, David, Martin, London, Ont.; Gerald, Larrys River; two granddaughters; a great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Gertrude; brother, Raymond; sisters, Agatha Delany, Helen Winters, Harriette. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday, both in St. Joseph's Church, Charlos Cove, Rev. Dwaine Devereaux officiating. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations to St. Joseph's Cemetery fund. Arrangements entrusted to G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, Country Harbour.
