Mrs. Laura Peebles,Mulgrave June 23.
Mrs. Laura Peebles, age 74, passed away in St. Martha's Hospital on June 15th.
She was the former Laura Grover of Charlos Cove and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Grover. Mrs. Peebles would have celebrated her birthday the 22nd
of this month.Her husband William predeceased her four years ago.
Mrs. Peebles, who lived alone, had been visiting a neighbour theThursday evening prior to her passing and it is surmised that after she returned home she suffered a weak turn and collasped on the kitchen floor where she was found the next morning by her sister.She was removed to St. Martha's Hospital where she rallied slightly and then suffered a relapse and failed to respond.
Mrs. Peebles was a faithful member of the St. Lawrence Parish Church and a member of the CWL and Ladies Auxilary of the Royal Canadian Legion. She lived all her married life in Mulgrave.
She is survived by her daughter,Mary (Mrs John Haig), Detroit, Michigan; six sisters and two brothers; Christena (Mrs. Gus Ryan) Port Hawkesbury; Anastasia
(Mrs. A. Murphy) St. John, New Brunswick; Lola (Mrs. Lola Theurer) Florida; Annie (Mrs.
Abe George) Upper Whitehead, Rhoda (Mrs. Edmund Holmes) Mulgrave; Essie (Mrs.
Howard Bond) Canso, a sister Alice predeceased her a number of years ago, Edward
of Charlos Cove and Percy of Kentville.
The late Mrs. Peebles rested at her home in Pirate Harbour,Mulgrave, until Thursday.Funeral was held from the St. Lawrence Parish Church with requiem high mass chanted by Rev. A.J. MacDonald. Interment was in the new church cemetery with committal by Father E.J.Marsh.
Pallbearers were Alonzo Peebles,Gordon Jamieson, Edmund Holmes and
Harold Meagher.
