1933

January 23: Jamie [Feltmate, her brother] went to Halifax to Experimental Station. [Jamie who was 21 and had been fishing with his father since he was 14, was taking a six-week biology course at the Fisheries Experimental Station. A class photo and a copy of the final exam is in our family archives]

February 17: Sewing meeting at June's [Uloth]. Celie played the accordion. [Celie was June's mother, Cecilia (Armsworthy) Uloth, wife of Albert]

February 22: Was to Dave's. Allison, Earl, Edward, Lydia and I. [to hear Dave Duncan's wonderful radio.]

March 1: To Dave's. Allison and Edward there. School dismissed at 2.30 as teacher had sore throat. Porrier & Ed Shiels up.

March 2: Nurse McDonald to school. I weigh 97 lbs, 5 ft 3/4 in tall. Eight lbs underweight. Meeting in Hall by Porrier.

March 10: Jamie came from Halifax. Ruth cut off Connie's hair today. [Connie Grover, daughter of Sidney and Ina (Roberts) Grover]

April 8: Pa went to Canso. Cant get back as Chedabucto couldn't get in the harbour and roads too bad for cars. [S.S.Chedabucto]

June 3: Dance in Hall. Mum hurt her toe. A[unt] Ethel [Grover] scalded her hand. [Ethel (Uloth) Grover was married to George Grover]

July 2: Church this morning. Walked to graveyard, up to cliff (Vera, Lydia, Bernie, Allison, Bill Ellison). Allison, Bernie, Lydia, I, also Agatha, Vera, Connie on swing this p.m.

July 3: Charlie Feltmate brought me and Lydia home in the car last evening. [Charles Edmond Feltmate 1906-1985, son of Tom and Rhoda (Grover) Feltmate]

July 8: Pie Aid at Conrads.

Aug 20: was vaccinated. Willie G,Calvin [Grover], Leslie [Duncan], Connie [Grover], Vera.

Sep 4: Pa was on barrens. [berry picking?]

Oct 26: weighed 98

Oct 30: Our pig weighed 228 lbs.

Nov 17: Rev Mc'Lloud [sic] put on a play in the Hall.

December 21: Xmas concert
