[Entries for 1952 are very sparse. Marion got married this year, and
it was the year of her parent's 50th wedding anniversary as well - William
Thomas and Margaret Ardelhia (Grover) Feltmate - pf]
Jan 31: Joe Munroe had dinner at Aunt Ethel's [Grover] too.
Heard that Ed Mcdonald, Duncan's brother, died.
Feb 9: Went to work with Grover [Groves? -pf] and wife. Ernie came
for me. Snowing thick when the boat came in. Carroll [Feltmate] &
Munroe & George Fraser got 5000 today.
Feb 13: Ernie & I had fun waltzing.
Feb 14: Ernie and I and Jamiesons over to Dort's Cove
Feb 16: The boats haven't been out because the glass is down. Neta, Phylis,
Barb, Mrs Gilchris and son Bill were at the base tonight. I was down.
Feb 23: Busy today. Ernie & I took a short drive and came home and
fried sausage.
Feb 25: Clarence & Lillian [Rhynold] moved into their new house.
I took a lunch down to Ernie & Harry [who were working at the base
-pf]
Feb 26: the most snow I ever saw
Feb 29: Nettie & Arth came home tonight. [Nettie (Ward) Rhynold
newly married to Arthur B Rhynold -pf] The plough was late getting
through.
Mar 1: Party for Nettie & Arth at Earl Duncan's. Mama & Pa &
I went. About 17 there.
Mar 4: Shower for Arth at Ina's [Grover]. 30 there
Mar 6: Quilting at Ina's for the Guild. I went to sleep on the kitchen
lounge.
Mar 11: Pat's baby buried today in Port Felix. (Lee 7 months old choked)
Mar 12: Sent for spring & mattress & bed
Mar 15: Sylvia's & Rob's [Conrad] baby born at Guys. Hospital
last night. [the baby was named Harold Fraser Conrad -pf]
Mar 18: Muriel's 2nd baby born last night.
Mar 30: United Church p.m. Mr Lovelock. I didn't go. Went to the base
for awhile
April 1: Pa went to Antigonish with Dobsons. Paul McLaughlin came home
from Germany for a few days.
Apr 2: Got my rose blanket from Toronto Mills
Apr 8: Beginning work every day.
Apr 10: Had choir practise. Lillian [Rhynold], Louise [Duncan],
Nettie [Rhynold], Leona [Duncan], Ina [Grover], &
Mrs Thurlow [Munroe], Mama, Mrs Jamieson.
Apr 11: Ernie & I went in to Vi Hendsbee's tonight for awhile
Apr 17: Ernie & I to Guysboro. got ice cream at the Bon ton.
Apr 18: Ernie was trouting today. He was here awhile this evening. Got
2 trout
Apr 19: Paid today from March 8 to April 8th. $24. The men are setting
pots.
Apr 21: Ernie & I to Canso. Got my hair done at Peggy's. 6.50
May 24: Alice Conrad's reception. Ernie & I, Mama & Pa there.
May 25: Church p.m. Helen Grover's baby christened. The Hall got broken
last night after we left.
Jul 8: Left Glace Bay about 9 a.m. Dinner at St Peter's. Went to see the
fish hatchery. Home about 4 p.m.
Jul 10: Ernie & I for a drive and made up again. Big mine disaster
in Glace Bay where Art works.
Jul 11: rain today. Took gingerbread up to Uncle George's [Grover]
this evening. He has 2 pigeons
Jul 12: Mrs Tucker and Mrs Cummings were here with their husbands (Naomi
Greencorn's daughters)
Jul 29: How Casey married Ber net.
Aug 6: Ernie went home. Havelock went to Morien with him
Aug 8: Mr & Mrs Row visiting. Wardie & Bess here this evening.
Aug 9: Ernie came back. Brought the engagement ring. Peter [Carroll],
Helena [(Williams) Carroll], Aunt Anne [(Grover) Williams],
Alice [Duncan] and Uncle Sidney's family [Grover], ours
& Ernie all saw the movies here in our own house tonight.
Aug 24: Ernie & Mama & I to Aunt Anne's tonight. Herb Pelrine
& wife here when we got home.
Aug 25: Herb & Curly left this morning. Charlie Dobson fell off the
roof. Ina & Ida here tonight. I had supper at the base.
Sep 17: Married today. Went to New Glasgow.
Sep 18: Went to Pictou
Sep 19: Went to PEI
Sep 20: Went to Moncton
Sep 21: Went to Sussex. Back to Amherst and Parrsboro
Sep 22: Went to Belmont, Truro & New Glasgow
Sep 23: Went to Antigonish and down to Glace Bay
Oct 1: Came through Margaree Inverness to Guysboro. Stayed at Grant's
Hotel
Oct 2: Came to Whitehead
Oct 26: Was to church.Mama & Pa to supper. Was down home tonight.
Nov 10: Got word that Anna died this morning or sometime through the night
in her sleep. [Anna (Dunphy) was the wife of Marion's brother Lindsay
who lived in Boston. She was only about 40. She had had the 'flu -pf]
Nov 11: Legion service at out church.
Nov 16: Carroll [her brother] here to dinner. We were down home
for supper. Max & Lindsay phoned this morning. [her brothers in
Boston-pf]
Nov 17: Ernie installed oil burner in the kitchen stove
Dec 24: Ernie & I went out with the basket. He trimmed the tree and
I stuffed the goose. He went to work midnight
Dec 25: Church a.m. Mama & Pa to dinner. Ernie went to work 6. I went
down home. Talked to Ma & Pa all evening.
Dec 28: Mrs J & I at candle light service in United Church tonight
Dec 30: Had the women at my place tonight. Aunt Ethel, Aunt Fan, Aunt
Ina, alice, Mama, Mrs J, Barbara, Mrs Thurlow, Lizzie
